Do you have important documents, cash, or backup data that you need to store safely, at home or in the office? If you're looking for a secure storage solution, a digital safe is the way to go. Many models are available in different types and sizes.
A digital safe lock has many advantages over the traditional mechanical combination locks. The digital keypad is easy to use and also to reprogram if the combination needs to be changed. Also, the safe can be set to lock out if an incorrect combination is used a certain number of times, thus not giving the thief a chance to try one combination after another indefinitely. The door of a digital safe automatically locks when closed – it doesn't require a turn of the dial to lock it. All these factors combine to provide a very high level of security.
When shopping for a digital safe, you'll need to consider several factors, including the cost, the size, the location of the safe, and the level of security required. Don't make the mistake of buying a small safe and quickly outgrowing it – over time you'll likely have more papers and valuables to secure. If your safe is going to be installed in a wall or floor, you'll want to make sure you have exact dimensions of the area and have thought through the installation carefully.
Fire protection is also a consideration. Digital safes with 30 minute, one hour, and two hour fire ratings are commonly available. But keep this in mind – if a safe can maintain an internal temperature of 350 degrees Farenheit for a certain number of hours, this will protect any papers that are inside but it may not protect electronic data. If you have data stored on tapes or disks you'll need a specialty safe that will maintain an inside temperature of 150 degrees or less in case of fire.
